Welcome! In Urbana School District 116, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Our schools are strengthened by our vibrant and diverse community that values education and works together to support the success of every child. As Superintendent, I am continually reminded how fortunate I am to live and work in a community that places such a high value on education, opportunity, and the potential of every child. The students, staff, families, and community members who make up USD 116 are the heart of what makes our district special.
Urbana School District 116 proudly serves around 4,500 students across ten PreK-12 schools, an Alternative Education program, and an Adult Education Center. While each school has its own unique character, we are united by a shared mission: ensuring that ALL learners are equipped and nurtured for future success. Every day, our educators and staff work to provide high-quality instruction, innovative programming, and strong social-emotional support so that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Our students and staff strive for excellence across academics, the arts, and athletics. Urbana High School has earned multiple AP Honor Roll recognitions and national recognition from U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s Best High Schools. Our award-winning band, theatre, choral, and elementary fine arts programs inspire creativity and expression, while our exemplary Spanish and French dual language programs prepare students to thrive in a global society. For our youngest learners, Urbana Early Childhood School has received state recognition with the Gold Circle of Quality rating for its teaching and learning environments.
Equally important is our commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments. We are proud of the diversity of our multicultural and multilingual community and remain dedicated to ensuring every student and family feels welcomed, valued, and supported. Through our Portrait of a Graduate, strategic planning, and continuous improvement plans, we are working together with our community to strengthen our schools and expand opportunities for all learners.
It is truly an honor to serve this community.
