The interactive map of Urbana, Illinois below shows the boundaries of each of the seven (7) USD 116 Board of Education Sub-Districts.

Prospective school board candidates may visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website for information regarding School Board Elections.


Qualifications

To be eligible for election to the board, a person shall be a citizen of the United States, shall have been a resident of the district for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and shall not be a child sex offender as defined in Section 11-9.3 of the Criminal Code of 2012.

Filing Dates

Petitions must be signed by at least 50 qualified voters or 10% of the voters, whichever is less, residing within the district. Petitions can be filed with the county clerk from November 16-23, 2026.

Board of Education Sub-District Terms:

  • District 1: New term expires 2029

  • District 2: Current term expires 2029 (not up for election in 2027)

  • District 3: New term expires 2031

  • District 4: New term expires 2031

  • District 5: New term expires 2031

  • District 6: New term expires 2029

  • District 7: New term expires 2031
