Student Programming

Grants and community partnerships make it possible for Urbana student to access engaging learning opportunities beyond the school day. 

 

Across several of our schools, grant funding supports after-school and summer learning programs for students

Programming

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant supports programs at Urbana High School, Dr. Williams Elementary and Thomas Paine. A City of Urbana Grant supports programs at Urbana Middle School. Title I Grant funds programming at the Urbana Sixth Grade Center, Yankee Ridge Multilingual Elementary and King School. Programming includes academic support and enrichment, activities, with a focus on College and Career Readiness.

King Reading Rally

King’s Reading Rally offers academic help and enrichment activities to all students in a safe space where they can meet friends and build community The program begins September 8 and runs Tuesdays through Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m.

Yankee Ridge Multilingual Reading Rally

Reading Rally offers academic help and enrichment activities to all students in a safe space where they can meet friends and build community The program begins September 8 and runs Tuesdays through Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m.

Thomas Paine Reading Rally

Reading Rally offers academic help and enrichment activities to all students in a safe space where they can meet friends and build community The program begins September 8 and runs Mondays through Thursdays. Programming starts after school and goes until 6 p.m. Dinner is provided each day.

DPW SPLASH!

SPLASH! offers academic help and enrichment activities to all students in a safe space where they can meet friends and build community The program begins September 8 and runs Mondays through Thursdays after school until 6 p.m. Dinner is provided each day of programming.

SGC SPLASH!

SPLASH! offers academic help, high interest learning sessions, and enrichment activities to all students in a safe space where they can meet friends and build community The program begins September 8 and runs Mondays through Thursdays after school until 5:15 p.m. Dinner is provided each day.

UMS SPLASH!

UMS SPLASH! offers academic help, high interest learning sessions, and enrichment activities to all students in a safe space where they can meet friends and build community The program begins September 8 and runs Tuesdays through Thursdays after school until 5:30 p.m. Dinner is provided each day.

UHS 9th Hour After School Program

UHS 9th Hour offers academic help, high interest learning sessions, and enrichment activities to all students in a safe space where they can meet friends and build community The program begins September 14 and is held Mondays through Thursdays after school until 6 p.m. Dinner is provided each day.

  • Yes. Students who live more than 1.5 miles away from the school are eligible for transportation home after the program.

  • No. Once a student is registered, they can continue with the after-school program for each session. The program will continue as long as the grant funding continues. 

  • There is a coordinator for each program. Please contact the coordinator at your student’s school with questions.
