The Urbana Board of Education approved the appointment of Katie Wienke as the Urbana School District Special Education Administrator.

Wienke brings more than 25 years of experience in education, with an emphasis on special education. Her experience includes special education programming and compliance, behavioral and social-emotional supports, staff development, and collaboration with community partners. 

Wienke began her career in 2000 with the Champaign-Ford Regional Office of Education before serving as a School Social Worker in the Tuscola and Springfield School Districts. After many years working directly with students and families, Wienke joined Champaign Schools as a Special Education Administrator, where she has provided district-level leadership and support to students, families, educators and special education programs across the district.

Throughout her career, Wienke has remained committed to building strong relationships, supporting educators, and ensuring students with disabilities have meaningful opportunities to learn, belong, and succeed.
