5th Grade Transition to Urbana Middle School
Welcome to Tiger Country! The end of the school year is always exciting for our fifth graders as we begin the transition process from elementary school to middle school. It is our goal that you and your child will feel welcome and enthusiastic about the middle school experience.

2012 Transition Events for Parents and Students
- April 9-12, 2012: UMS staff members will visit elementary schools. We will visit each of the elementary schools during the school day to meet the students and provide an overview of UMS.
- April 16-20 2012: elementary students will visit UMS. Elementary students will take a field trip to UMS during the school day. Once here, your students will take a tour of the building led by current UMS students.
- April 26, 2012 7:00-8:30: Parent Curriculum Night. Parents are invited to come into UMS to tour the building and receive an overview of the academic and extracurricular programs offered here.
- August TBA: Sixth Grade Transition Day. Prior to the first day of school, parents and students are invited to spend the morning at UMS. Sixth grade teachers provide an orientation to their students, and parents will have an opportunity to meet the teachers. You will receive more information about this event in the mail during the summer.
