Tolerant or Intolerant?
Homer Lake, IL
UMS WaterWorks students participate in a game that teaches them about tolerant and intolerant aquatic species. The game is set up like tag, but each student plays the role of an invertebrate. Some of the species are tolerant to pollution while other are not. Those that are not have to complete "tasks" as they move around making them more likely to get tagged by the roaming "pollution". The activity instructors included employees of the Salt Fork River Forest Preserve who also played the role of the pollution.
