Don't Rock the Boat

In preparation for a canoe trip down the Salt Fork River later in the semester, UMS WaterWorks students learn basic canoeing skills from the staff at the Salt Fork River Forest Preserve. Students paired up with guides and set out to paddle around the lake and view wildlife from the water. Students also participated in water quality sampling in the lake interior by taking Secchi depth measurements to estimate the turbidity (suspended sediment) levels in the lake.
