Room 15 Important Reminders

Dear Families,

Welcome to Washington School! I would like to introduce my teaching Assistant and myself. My name is Francinna Wright and I will be your child’s teacher this year. Ryan Olsen will be my teacher assistant. Ryan Olsen and I are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding school year.

The main focus of teachers in room 15 will be the children. We will be working together to create an environment, which will stimulate and encourage your child to succeed and grow in every developmental area.

Following are just a few reminders which will help make this a safe and enjoyable experience for your child.

  • Please make sure your child wears his/her nametag for the first week of school. The nametags help the bus drivers keep track of all the children. Remind children that they must put on seat belts, remain seated, keep hands to self, and respect bus monitor & other students during the ride to and from school.

  • All parents picking up children from school must check-in at the office first. Please write a note or call ahead of time if your child is NOT going home on the bus. If a child’s parent is not at school to pick up the child on time, then the child will ride home on the bus. There is no one here to provide childcare before or after school.

  • If you need to bring your child to school, please bring him/her to the room no earlier than 9:00a.m. / 1:00p.m. If you are early, you need to wait in the hall with your child. This allows teachers time to prepare for the day.

  • If you need to pick up your child from school, please remember to sign your child out in the office first, and then pick up your child from the room. Plan to arrive by 11:15/3:15 to avoid the bus traffic.

  • Your child will need to bring a LARGE book bag to school every day. Please put all notes, money, etc. in the main pocket of your child’s bag. We will be checking the bag daily when your child arrives at school. We ask that you also check the bag when your child arrives home every day for important notes and children’s work. Please remove artwork and newsletters and only put returning notes back in homework folder.

  • Dress your child in play clothes and play shoes (no flip-flops or high heels) that are unsafe to run in. We do lots of messy, fun things during our school day. An extra change of clothes are required to be kept at school in the event of any spills or accidents.

  • Practice with your child how to zip, button, and snap their own clothes. We work very hard on independent skills, especially in the bathroom, where being able to zip, button, and snap their own clothes are very important for the children. We would prefer that the girls not wear “bodysuits” as they are nearly impossible for them to snap on their own. Children also have difficulty with removing belts when they are just starting to use the bathroom.

  • The activity donation of $2.00 is collected the first of every month. These funds are used towards field trip expenses and special activities done in the classroom. If you choose, you may pay for the entire year at the beginning of the school year ($18.00). Please send the money in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on the outside. If you are paying by check, please make it out to Francinna Wright.

  • Aramark will be preparing and delivering our snacks daily. According to our snack grant and Health Regulations parents are not allowed to send homemade snacks or food for the class. If you would like to send a special Birthday or Holiday treat the item must be purchased at the store and sealed.

  • Please do not send toys to school unless requested by the teacher. Toys from home can be a distraction to the learning environment and also be lost or broken.

Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation. Please remember that you are always welcome in Room 15. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me (384-3616). As parents and guardians, you are a very valuable component in the success of our program.
