The people in our group, the Powerpuff Girls, are Laura Pedersen, Letitia Onyango,
and I, Emily Ward. We are creating Townsville, the town in the show,
The Powerpuff Girls. In the background there are multiple tall buildings.
The front building is Townsville Hall. However, in front of all the
buildings are monsters, ready to attack Townsville, endangering all the people!
The Powerpuff girls must come to the rescue and save Townsville. So far, we have
created the buildings and the monsters. In the future, we plan to add fog to the
city to make it look scarier and we also plan to make the city larger to look
more realistic.
We have enjoyed our time so far in the Cave. On the first day, Letitia started
us out in making our first monster. We messed around with different textures
and colors. I designed the face and connected the monsteržs body parts together.
Laura cloned the monsters repeatedly so we had a whole group of monsters. On
the second day Letitia took control first. She built a building to begin the
town and then built Townsville Hall. She had a few troubles working the wands!
Laura took the glasses to clone the buildings and help Letitia with her wand
problems. She was the main builder in this session. I took the wand for a short
amount of time to color and texture the buildings. I also retextured the monsters
so they looked different. This has been a fun experience so far. We are looking
forward to our last two visits to the Cave.

The control palette is really cool! There are so many colors and textures
that you can add to make your shapes unique. It is easy to understand the
buttons and figure out which one does what. Something that we wish we could
see added to the palette is a button that could make a floor and a background.
It is really hard to make a background in the Cave. We are trying to, and are
having a really hard time. Also, if we could make a floor or ground then we
could have an easier time making the buildings and monsters all on the same
level. Another thing that would make working in the Cave simpler is if we
could make more shapes than polygons. In the Appleworks Draw program, you
can make circles with one of the tools. It would be nice to have a tool that
could make different shapes.
Some of the problems we have encountered in the Cave have been problems
that we canžt really help. The driving glasses are too heavy for our small
ears! The glasses keep falling off our head and it is very hard to work the
joystick and hold our glasses on at the same time. Also the glasses give us
headaches! Those problems cannot really be solved very easily, and they don't
get in the way of our project that much.
We have enjoyed working in the Cave. It has been an opportunity that
we probably would not have experienced without NCSA. Everyone we have
told about going to the Cave has been jealous of us! It is really fun to
texture and color the different shapes. There are so many possiblities that
you can make.

Entry 3
Last time in the Cave, we cloned many, many stars! We made a big sky full of stars.
The first thing we did though was get rid of the "background" we had from the
previous session. It was really bad and we didn't like it!!! Next time we are
going to make more stars to make our sky even bigger. (SOME of us don't think
we should add more stars, she thinks that we should only spread them out. However,
we are ignoring her!) We also changed the colors of some of the monsters so they
stood out more and didn't blend in with the buildings. The next big thing that we
did was write the name of the town, "Townsville". This was really hard. It was
difficult to make the shapes look like letters. We did the best we could, but
after looking at the pictures on the computer, we are going to have to fix some of them.
In our presentation, we are planning to go first. We will show the palette and how
the different buttons work. We might create an object just to show our parents how
to do it. Then we will take a small tour of our world, however small it may be. We
will show the monsters and how they hide behind the buildings. Then we will fly up
and go through the sky to see the stars.
