Last week, we started in the cave. I had a problem with the tracking glasses. I would see double with and with out the glasses. I do have a lazy eye, but the time before I saw perfectly well with the tracking glasses. Also the plain glasses were flickering back and forth from double to singular and back. Also, I kept losing the square I helped make. Once I even got lost in empty space.

Last tuesday, we learned how to make shapes. We also learned how to color those shapes, make them see through, move them around, and make them larger.
One thing that did not work well was that when I had the glasses for wearing when I had the remote, I saw all blurry because everything that I saw was x3. The window where I was supposed to select what color and matter I desired to use, was especially blurry.
I really think the cave is a great idea since I've always been interested in computer related things, and both my parents and I thought it was a great opportunity for me to learn about building virtual worlds.
One inconvenientce that I think is going to affect everybody is that we only get to go in the cave 4 times and it'd be even better if we had the opportunity to work on our world during the whole year. I think it is a great idea to put one of the things to make virtual worlds in the school so that we can show other people who might, like me, be interested in computer related technology.

This time the glasses worked. Last time I think the glasses were not working. This time though, the menu did not work. My group and I "Planted" some super colorful trees. We're planning to make a futuristic scene to show how people are hurting this earth. I wish there was a way to get our point to the world.

Last tuesday, in the cave, we made a platform of grass. On that particular platform of grass, we 'planted' very colorful trees and spread them around. We were also in the process of making a lake when we were asked to leave. We had a lot of fun and I think we all learned a lot. I really hope that Paola know knows how to use the program since she wasn't there on the day when they explained the process of making shapes, changing sizes, and texture. While the 8th graders were working on their cave, we had time to discuss what we were planning to do in the next few visits to the cave. Our plans were to make a huge wall in the middle of our world, and crossing it, horizontally, would be a forest and next to the forest, would be a prairie. On one side of the wall, the forest would be made out of bright, colorful, and 'happy' trees. and next to the forest, on the same side of the wall, there would be a prairie made out of bright, green grass. Then, on the opposite side of the wall, would also be a forest except, the forest is going to be made out of brown and black trees. And next to those 'sad' trees, is going to be a prairie made out of mud (brown) which is going to be burning. The cause for such sad landscapes is that on that last side, there is a house of humans. These are our plans. 11-5-02
Fortune Tellers!!!
In the cave, we barely got ANYTHING done, the last time we entered it. There was one major problem, everyone did not get their turns at using the remote. Some people kept on snatching it.... I think our plans were a little too big for what time was given to us in the cave. Instead of making four different colored grounds, we might actually make only two. One on the 'good' side and one on the 'bad' side. We might not make the trees on the good side, as colorful as we had planned. On the bad side, we will more likely only make gray or black trees, depending on what colors are available. I really wish that we could have more time to spend working in the cave. Next semester, we will more likely organize ourselves a little better, knowing that we have so little time.

Last time we went to the cave we thought of ideas for our world. We copied more trees and made a wall. The wall looked as if it was really hard to do. We had a lake done but we kind of lost it in space. We are going to make a new pond after we finish the wall.
We were trying to use our time wisely. When we finish with the more important things like the lake and the wall, we are going to start on the polluted side to our world.
For the polluted side we are thinking of making stumps of trees to show how people chop down trees. Last week my group made colorful trees representing the happy, good side of out world. For the bad, ugly side we are going to make the trees a darker color to show the polluted area.
Me and my group hope to finish up with everything so we can add extras. Some of the extras we have in mind are putting in alien like creatures. Our topic is the prairie and our group's name is The Fortune Tellers so we want to relate our world with both things. I think that we should do a world of how we might think the prairie is going to be in like 50 years from now or maybe 100. Things aren't going to stay the same as they are now. There might be aliens and the whole world might be polluted or it might be a very healthy world.
We only have one more day to work in the cave before we have to present our world to our parents and some teachers. We are hoping to finish our world next time we go back to the cave.

The cave was an interesting project. I am honored to have been chosen to participate in this activity. It was fun. I also got to know Amber and Paola better. Last time, our parents came, (one of them), and my dad kind of got lost. We made a four walled house to show them how the cave worked. Afterwards, we got pizza. I like pizza a lot :). I would certainly do another world, except I think, frankly, it¼d be better if I was doing it alone, not that I did not enjoy getting to know Amber and Paola. It'd just be easier if I wasn't in a group. I think what might be fun is if next semester, we switched around the group members, so that we get to know even more people. It'd be better if we had two people in a group, instead of 3. One inconvenience about going to the cave every Tuesday after school is that I don't get to ride the bus with my friends like I normally do and especially tonight. It is sometimes annoying, as I needed to talk to one of my friends about something very important. Thank you for reading. Bye!
