6th Grade Transition
Welcome to Tiger Country! The end of the school year is always exciting for our fifth graders as we begin the transition process from elementary school to middle school. It is our goal that you and your child will feel welcome and enthusiastic about the middle school experience.
We look forward to working with you to make the middle school years successful.
- In Spring – UMS staff members will visit each elementary school. We will visit each of the elementary schools during the school day to meet the students and provide an overview of UMS.
- Later in Spring – Elementary students will visit UMS. Each elementary school will have their students take a field trip to UMS during the school day. Once here, your students will take a tour of the building led by current UMS students.
- Later in Spring – Parent Curriculum Night. Parents are invited to come into UMS to tour the building and receive an overview of the academic and extracurricular programs offered here.
- Sixth Grade Transition day is the first day of school. Only sixth graders will be in attendance on that day and we will have regular transportation and meal service. Along with following their regular school schedules, students will tour UMS, receive their hall lockers, meet their teachers and administrators, and meet other students on their team. There will be an optional program for parents from 8:45-9:45 a.m on that morning.
We look forward to working with you to make the middle school years successful. If you have any questions, please contact UMS directly.
