The primary focus of this course is to familiarize students with the idea of language as a skill and as a basic form of human communication. Emphasis is on the develpment of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in limited situations. Vocabulary acquisition includes greetings, names, alphabet, numbers, ages, days, months, dates, colors, family and animals. The appreciation for languages and cultural differences is developed through realia (authentic French materials), videos, poems, songs, games and sampling of French foods.
