Monday
  • Track practice today, Monday, March 15th will be for girls only and tomorrow, Tuesday, March 16th will be for boys only.  All practices will meet in the gym.  
  • Congratulations!!! Over the course of the last 2 weeks, you have turned in over 800 Tiger Tickets. That means a lot of you have been doing a great job of following expectations. You have earned all 5 days of Spirit Week this week. Today, Monday is Celebrity Day, when you should dress up like your favorite sports star, movie star, or musician. Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be Hat Day, when you can wear any hat to school and wear it all day as long as it is turned directly to the front. Wednesday is Wacky Wear day, when you should wear the silliest, most ridiculous-looking outfit you can find. Thursday is Dress-up Day when you should come to school wearing your nicest clothes. Friday is Spirit Day when you should wear orange and black and be ready to cheer at the student vs. staff game.
  • Caitlin Irvin-Sprague found the book Winn-Dixie to be interesting, unique and loving.  She thinks Gwen, Sophie and Rose would also enjoy it.
  • There will be an Urbana Girls Summer Fastpitch Softball League this summer. Registration will be Tuesday, March 16th and Wednesday, March 17th. The registration fee is $177.00 per player and includes: uniform with black socks for first year players, helmet with mask, two tournament entry fees, home game concession stand fee, insurance and field fee.  All fees are due at the time of registration, along with a photo copy of your birth certificate. Sign-up forms are in the Office with more information. (3/16)
  • Interested in becoming an Urbana High School Cheerleader? Come to the 2010-2011 8th Grade cheerleading informational meeting. When: Tuesday, March 16th from 4:00-5:00 pm - Where: UMS Cafetorium. At this meeting you will receive all necessary tryout forms and information. If you are not able to attend, please have someone pick up your forms as they are needed to attend the clinic days as well as to tryout.  If you are in a spring sport you may pick up your forms and leave. Just make sure you sign the ‘Intent to Tryout Sheet’. MALES AND GYMNASTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND! (3/16)
  • Attention All Students: The Illinois Girls and Boys Lacrosse Association will be hosting a Lacrosse Clinic for any interested boys and girls. Beginners and interested players are welcome and will be split by skill level.  Come out and learn the exciting game of lacrosse!  Players will be taught cradling, passing, catching, shooting, defense, and will end the clinic in a scrimmage. The date is Saturday, April 3rd; time 9:00-10:30 a.m. for girls and 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for boys. The cost will be $20.00.  The location will be Centennial Field, 913 Crescent Drive in Champaign.   • 8th graders are to meet Coach Russell at UHS for a mandatory information meeting about Open gym and summer basketball at UHS. This meeting will be held in the UHS Health room on Thursday, March 18th, at 4:30 p.m.

  • Marquise Brown read the book JUMP BALL and said it was awesome!!  It takes place at Tower High School and must be about basketball!

  • Attention 8th Grade Girls: If you are interested in playing volleyball next year, there will be UHS Volleyball Open Gym every Tuesday and Thursday starting today and continuing through May.  The time will be 7:30-9:00 p.m.  There will also be a Parent Meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the Health Room at UHS.
  • The new SPLASH books are here!!!  Get your registration forms turned in this week before SPRING BREAK so you can get into the classes you want. (3/19)
