Gayle
Ross to Visit UHS
Gayle Ross, an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation and
a nationally known Cherokee story teller, presented a program
of Cherokee stories to classes in the auditorium on March
10th. She is a great-great-great-granddaughter of John Ross,
a principal chief of the Cherokee during the Trail of Tears
in 1838. Gayle Ross was raised in Texas and learned traditional
Cherokee stories and songs from her grandmother.
