Meet Notes:
September 4th --The cross country team competed
at Twin City. The girls took second with Marissa Marrone,
Meghan Houk, and Kelsey Choquette placing in the top 10. The
boys came in 4th with Joe Ellinger placing 5th and Coley Lucas,
8th. Thanks to all the fans who came out to watch the tigers
race.
September 29th -- The Cross Country team
competed in the Peoria Invitational this past weekend and
ran their fastest times all year. Meghan Houk broke her Personal
Best record, covering the 3 mile course in 19:09 - 14 seconds
off the school record. Marissa Marrone was right behind her
running a 19:22. 7 of the 12 runners shattered their personal
records by a minute or more, they were: Rudi Bredemeier, Kelsey
Choquette, Meghan Houk, Marissa Marrone, Hannah Morris, Emily
Ross, and Jeff Sweedler. 4 other runners ran personal best
times as well: Joe Ellinger, Emma Fell, Jacob Nelson, and
Max Tomaszewski. Both teams look stronger than they have all
year and look to have a good showing at the Mahomet Invite
this Saturday. Great job and Good luck!!!
Big 12 Conference: Congratulations to the
Meghan Houk and Marissa Marrone for recieving All-Conference
honors at the Big 12 Invitational. Their 4th and 6th place
finishes helped lead the team to a 4th place finish.
Great races were had by all runners, with the following running
personal best times: Rudi Bredemeier, Austin Martin, Jacb
Nelson, Ruby Gaylen, Sophia Spooner, Jeff Sweedler, Cody Breitenfeldy,
Cody Bralts, Nic Morse, Meghan Houk, Marissa Marrone, Kelsey
Choquette, and Emily Ross
Regionals: Congratulations to Joe Ellinger
who advanced to the Cross Country Sectional race. The girls
team also advanced to Sectionals after placing 2nd at Regionals.
The team was lead by Meghan Houk and Marissa Marrone, running
4th and 5th and earning Regional medals.
Sectionals: Congratualtions to the cross
country team on an outstanding sectional appearance. The runners
raced against the top teams in the state and finished 7th
out of 20 teams. Marissa Marrone advanced to the state meet
next weekend as the 5th individual, covering the course in
18 minutes, 57 seconds.
State: Congratulations to Marissa Marrone who broke the school
record for 3 miles at the State Cross Country meet this past
weekend. Marissa covered the course in 18 minutes, 42 seconds,
12 seconds faster than previous record holder and recent graduate
Taneya Tuell. Great job on an outstanding season!
