King Library Remodeling

In the summer of 2008, Urbana District #116 began the long process of remodeling the King Library. Here are some photos of the process!

In the late spring, all the boxes were packed up and labeled by section.

Boxes were everywhere!

Empty shelves...

...and no shelves!

The room was sealed up for abstesos removal.

All the flooring was removed in July 2008.

New carpet was installed and the wooden shelves were reassembled.

The north windows were painted white.

The new carpet is great for crawling!

In early August, the summer staff started moving the boxes back in, and the furniture started to arrive.

By September, all of the boxes had been moved back in to the library and many books had been shelved.

The front of the room has the tables and the new SMARTBoard Interactive Whiteboard.

We started using the library for staff meetings in mid-September, boxes and all!

Students are very excited about using the new SMARTBoard during library instruction.

By early November, the library was finished!

Students and teachers can use the new iMacs to look up books in the library catalog.

The SMARTBoard gets used every day for instruction.

Students love lining up at the new circulation desk!
