Martin Luther King Elementary School Students Learn the Game of Chess

Wiley Elementary School Receives Technology Upgrade

Urbana Adult Education Hosts Free Medical Screening

Thomas Paine Students Enjoy Concert that Celebrates Abraham Lincoln

Thomas Paine Elementary School Students got to enjoy great music and listen to the writings from Abraham Lincoln on Thursday, as the Ravinia Festival’s Lincoln Trio performed Mystic Chords of Memory, part of Ravinia’s celebration of our 16th President’s 200th Birthday. Early Childhood Teacher Receives Award from U of I

Each year the University Of Illinois College Of Education awards one of its alumni the Outstanding Beginning Educator Award. This year, Washington Early Childhood School teacher Carrie Riggins will receive the 2009 Outstanding Beginning Educator Award. Riggins will be honored this weekend on the U of I campus. Urbana Middle School Students Have Holocaust Personalized

Urbana Middle School students now have a further appreciation and understanding of the Holocaust thanks to a special workshop that put a human face on the Nazi extermination camps. Dr. Brian Kahn of the Holocaust Education Network conducted the workshop for two separate groups at UMS. Dr. Kahn’s family were victims of the Holocaust as he estimates over 185 family members died at the hands of the Nazis. Read the rest of this story »

Urbana School District #116 Students Prepare for Achievement Tests

As spring approaches, students, faculty, and staff of Urbana School District #116 are preparing for state-mandated tests to measure student achievement.
