Welcome!
Our Mission
The mission of the Urbana School District library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information as specified in standards set by the American Library Association and the Illinois Learning Standards for Language Arts. Furthermore, the USD libraries practice policies and procedures that enable them to function for the benefit of all their patrons.

Recent research studies show that quality school libraries improve student achievement. Powerful Libraries Make Powerful Learners was a two-year project completed in 2005 undertaken by the RSL Research Group, Colorado, and the Illinois State Board of Education.

About the Libraries
The USD libraries have long been a source of pride within the greater Urbana community. Each library is staffed by a certified librarian with a graduate degree in library and information science. Several USD librarians hold additional advanced degrees in other subject areas. Each librarian comes to his or her position with a wealth of knowledge and experience, adding to the richness of the overall school library program.
