Superintendent's Message continued
Be sure to read about the spirit week story at UMS in this newsletter. The middle school has made great strides in academic achievement over the years and with a renewed emphasis on community, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence, UMS will achieve greatness in the coming years.
Each District 116 school is required by the school board to submit a school improvement plan each year. This has been a District 116 Board of Education mandate for over 10 years and just now is the state requiring improvement plans from all Illinois schools. District 116 has been a pioneer in coming up with best-practice, research-based ways to improve student achievement across the board. You can always see what District 116 is doing to raise the academic bar by viewing all our school improvement plans at http://www.usd116.org/home/schools/improvement.html.
As I begin to complete my second year as District 116 Superintendent, I am full of optimism and excitement about how far we’ve come in the past few years and how we are positioned to move forward to even greater heights.
We truly are “Outstanding Schools in an Outstanding Community!”
