Dear Students, Families and Friends, This is always the best time of the year for me in that I have an opportunity to see the fresh faces and the gleam of anticipation in their eyes - and that’s only the new staff members! I never tire of watching the kindergartners start their journey in a new school and the excitement that they display at the wonderment of learning. If only we could capture that excitement and dole it out throughout their educational careers in small increments when they need it most; I believe that with this tool, we’d never have a drop-out in our system. During our inservice this year we were treated to one of the best and most sought after motivational speakers in the nation - Dr. Crystal Kuykendall. Her call to our staff was to bring out the best in every child and also ourselves. This really provides our district with our theme for this year: “Bringing Out the Best in All of Our Students." By believing not in what students can’t do but concentrating on what they can do, we can transform deficit thinking into positive results. We must believe that we can and will make a positive difference in every child that we have the opportunity to teach. And, by working, motivating, and challenging our students each and every day to heights that they themselves might not believe that they can reach, we can make a difference. We are in fact the lucky ones. As educators, we touch the future each and every day. Every day we are "Merchants of Hope!" Dr. Preston Williams |
