District 116 After-School Program Celebrates Another Year of Success
The Urbana School District #116 After School Child Care Program (ASCCP) recently hosted a family picnic to celebrate another year of after school activities. The event at Thomas Paine Elementary School featured fun activities for kids and parents to participate in, a nice dinner, and a silent auction to benefit the ASCCP Scholarship Fund.
“It’s important that we let the families come and party with the kids too,” says ASCCP Director Sandy Davin. The kids were able to play on inflatable structures and the Thomas Paine playground. The adults (and the kids if they wanted to) bid on silent auction items to benefit the ASCCP Scholarship fund and raised $2,025!
In reflecting on the past year of ASCCP programs, Davin says it was a fabulous year. “But, then every year I say is a fabulous year,” Davin jokes. The after school program served over 300 kids this year, and Davin says already has well over 250 students signed up for next year.
