Yankee Ridge Elementary EBD Students Learn Through Tae Kwan Do
Members of the Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) class at Yankee Ridge Elementary School this past month learned and exercised in a special Tae Kwan Do class. The students in the EBD class are kids who cannot function in a normal classroom setting.
Kay Jamieson helped set up the class for the students. The students learned fundamental exercises and respect for adults during the sessions. The students had to stand at attention, listen, respect the teacher, and respect other students who can or cannot do the exercises.
"I've heard my students say they learned self-control and taking responsibility," says EBD Teacher Carrie Kline. Kline says her students have reminded each other in the classroom to apply the lessons taught in Taw Kwan Do to everyday classroom situations.
