Superintendent's Message
Dear Students, Families and Friends,
As we enter the month of May, I felt it prudent to review our goals and the district master plan for academic achievement. Our overall goal statement:
Our goal is to educate our students to read, write, reason, and compute, in order to become responsible citizens, discriminating consumers, productive employees, and effective community members in a changing world society.
We have outlined three very specific targets in order to reach our overall goal:
Target One – We will improve reading performance for all identifiable subgroups of students so that there is an increase of at least 5-10% meeting or exceeding state standards as measured by a) ISAT/PSAE b) District assessments by the Spring of 2005 and by appropriate amounts in subsequent years to ensure adequate yearly progress, as measured by NCLB.
a) White, non-Hispanic 5%
b) Asian 5%
c) LEP students 5%
d) African-American 10%
e) Low SES 10%
f) Special Education 10%
