BEGINNING KNITTING – In this class the students will learn the basics of knitting: casting on, knit and purl stitches, binding off and increasing/decreasing. Students are encouraged to choose individual projects – like a hat or a scarf – by the third class. Knitting needles and yarn will be provided. Supply fee of $10 payable in first class. Class begins Oct. 3.

BEGINNING CROCHET - Crochet is easy to learn and endlessly creative! This class will cover basic stitches, crocheting in the round, making lace, and reading patterns and charts. Students are encouraged to choose individual projects by the fourth class. Crochet hook and yarn will be provided. Supply fee of $7.50 payable in first class. Class begins Nov. 7.

NEW! MAKE A QUILT TOP WITHOUT A PATTERN! – Students will learn how to make a quilt top using a random strip method of piecing. A basic knowledge of traditional piecing is helpful but not necessary. Students will learn how to create blocks using the line and color of the fabric. A pattern is not used. No experience necessary. If you are a traditionalist, then you know the rules. This is your chance to break those rules! Class includes: PowerPoint presentation overview of method and a written guide for directions. Sewing machine in good working order required. Please consider transporting your machine when signing up for the class. There is an elevator available. Supply list will be mailed. Class begins Sept. 18.

NEW! LEARN TO LAYER & BIND A QUILT – This is a demo class. Students will see a demo for layering a quilt to prepare it for machine quilting. The second demo will show a variety of methods to bind the quilt edges. Students please bring note taking materials. Class meets Oct. 16.

NEW! MACHINE QUILTING WITH A WALKING FOOT –This course will teach you how to quilt using a walking foot. Very important – students are required to bring a sewing machine in good working order with a walking foot. This method cannot be done without a walking foot attachment. Student should also bring materials to practice in class. Please consider transporting your machine when signing up for the class. There is an elevator available. Class begins Oct. 23.

NEW! FREE MOTION QUILTING –This course will teach you how to free motion quilt. Very important – students are required to bring a sewing machine in good working order with a quilting/embroider foot. The machine must have the capability to drop the feed dogs. This method cannot be done without these sewing machine specifics. Students should also bring materials to practice in class.
