Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! It is an honor to be a part of the Wiley Elementary School community. Wiley Elementary School is a place where students are successful and where families are involved. Thank you for sharing your children with us.
A little about me… I have been a resident in the Champaign-Urbana community for 18 years. I have two Master’s degrees from the University of Illinois: one in Curriculum and Instruction and one in Educational Leadership.
My educational career began in the Champaign Schools. I have worked as a fifth grade teacher, a third grade teacher, and as an assistant principal. Each year taught me more and more about the things that motivate students to learn.
Elementary school is a special time in your child’s life. They undergo many social and academic changes. This is also the time when students transition into various stages of reading - from “learning to read” to “reading to learn”. At Wiley Elementary School we believe that our students are always “reading to learn”.
As a principal, I am committed to working with my staff, parents, and students as partners in this amazing journey that we are on. It is essential that we all come to school ready to learn each day with a positive attitude focused on success.
We have a passionate and dedicated Parent-Teacher Association that supports the instruction in our classrooms. The PTA sponsors many events and helps raise money for materials that support a strong quality curriculum. I encourage you to support the PTA and their programs throughout the year.
Thank you in advance for supporting your child's success at school, in the classroom, and through our parent organizations. If I can ever be of assistance, please email or call me.
