Lesson 2: Students will look at current photos of a city street sign, a cemetery tombstone, business marquees, school marquee, university dormitory marquee, a cemetery, a golf course, and a preservation wooded area. They will discuss what might be a common thread with all these locations.

 

Procedures:

á     Hand out copies of the photographs of current structures and places found in Champaign Urbana. Have students look at them and discuss what seems to be a common thread between them. Names photos are: BuseyMainSt., BuseyWoods, ColBuseyMemorial, BuseyTombstones, WoodlawnSign, BuseyHall, BuseyHallBuilding, UrbanaFreeLibrary, UrbanaCountryClub, BuseyBankMarquee, CarrieBusey, MemorialStadium.

á     Questions that could be discussed: Do you recognize any of these places? Have you visited any of these places? Do you know anything about these locations?
