Check for Snow Day Cancellations

Winter weather is here and the Urbana School District uses cancellations.com to post school closings and/or early releases.
Parents and staff can sign up for free notifications directly to your e-mail once we have posted a school closure. (Please keep in mind that schools will occasionally dismiss early or not open because of other emergency situations too.)

Jan. 15 Board meeting synopsis

The District 116 School Board of Education is made up of seven elected members. Board meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of each month. (There are no board meetings scheduled in July.) The public is welcome to attend.
Announcing Monthly Online Newsletter - January issue
Members of the public and the Urbana School District family now have a monthly newsletter to help them stay up-to-date with current events in District 116. The electronic newsletter Urbana School District Monthly will be published online.
The newsletter will feature a monthly message from Superintendent Dr. Preston Williams and occasional commentaries from the Urbana School District Board of Education. The news section contains photos and news stories of various happenings in the school district in the past month. You will also find the school district calendar and other announcements pertaining to District 116.
This is the inaugural issue of the newsletter. It is a work in progress, and we will continue to refine the final product as 2008 continues. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Mark Schultz via email. Constructive feedback is appreciated.
Urbana Schools Open Friday, January 25

All Urbana School District #116 Schools will be open for a regular schedule tomorrow, January 25, 2008. Although the temperature will be cold tomorrow morning, the wind chill is not forecast to be as severe and the forecast calls for moderating temperatures during the day.
School buildings will be open so children will be able to go right in when arriving at school.
Parents are reminded to please bundle up your children for tomorrow's trip to school, even if they will be outside for only a short period of time.
NO SCHOOL - Jan. 21-23

- Monday, January 21 for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday
- Tuesday, January 22 for Institute Day
- Wednesday, January 23 for Institute Day
