State of Illinois Amends Sex Offender Registration Act

Passed by the State of Illinois General Assembly - 94th Session
This public law amends the Sex Offender Registration Act and requires school districts to notify the parents of children attending the school during school registration or during parent-teacher conferences that information about sex offenders is available to the public as provided for in the Act. Esta ley publica modifica el Acto de Registro para Delincuentes Sexuales y requiere que los distritos escolares notifiquen a los padres de estudiantes durante el registro o durante las conferencias de Padres y Maestros que existe informacion disponible al publico sobre delincuentes sexuales segun se indica en el Acto de Registro.

Urbana Alumni Association Awards Semi-Annual Grants

The Urbana Alumni Association awarded their semi-annual grants at the November 21 Board of Education meeting. We extend our gratitude to the UAA for faithfully and generously supporting our schools.
Urbana Middle School: Purchase 30 dictionaries, 30 thesaurses, 40 Explorer
calculators and storage caddy, teacher's guide and poster for UMS Special Education. (Kathy Clearlock and Meghan Miller) Total Cost: $2030.60.
Urbana Middle School: Purchase curtains for the UMS gym stage. (Nancy Clinton, UMS Principal) Total Cost: $6065.36.
Urbana High School: Replace outdated equipment in the UHS weight room. (UHS Athletic Department) Total Cost: $3170

Urbana Aquatic Center Update - 11/28/06

Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center Update: Pool activities will resume on a limited basis January 12. Swim team practice will take place in the facility that afternoon. Grand reopening weekend is January 13-15, with open swim on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, including a planned family event January 14. Morning and lunchtime lap swim times start again January 16.
All official hours and dates for the winter season will be published in the Urbana Park District's next course catalog, the Leisure Guide, scheduled for mailing to Urbana Park District residents the second week of December. Look for additional information in January about a Grand Reopening schedule of events at the Urbana Park District web site: http://www.prairienet.org/upd
UHS Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner - 11/23/06

Urbana Aquatic Center UPDATE - 11/08/06

We have received confirmation that the shipping date for the new Pool Pak is December 14. Installing and testing all the systems is expected to take 2-3 weeks.
The insurance company will remove the damaged Pool Pak from the roof of the Aquatic Center over the next two weeks or so.
