Urbana Aquatic Center temporarily closed

[posted 7/26/06 - 8/1/06]

On Monday, July 24, a fire damaged the roof of the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. Fortunately, no one was injured, as the fire took place when the facility was closed to the public for annual maintenance. The roof repair is already complete. However, damage to the mechanical systems is still being assessed. Once any repairs are made, affected areas will be repainted and cleaned. At this time all UIAC activities have been moved to Crystal Lake Pool for July 31 - August 5. If repairs and cleaning are done more quickly, the Aquatic Center may be opened sooner. Pass holders should expect separate notification by mail about an extension to make up for the time the UIAC is closed. For more information, call 217-367-1544 or visit the Urbana Park District website for an update after July 31.

The Urbana Park District and Urbana School District 116 joined together to build the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. The Aquatic Center is used by the schools, club swim teams, and is available for use by all members of the community.
