[posted 4/10/06 - 4/19/06]

Congratulations to Urbana High School alumna and University of Missouri senior guard LaToya Bond who was selected in the second round of the WNBA Draft by the Charlotte Sting this month.

As a senior at UHS under head coach Aimee Smith, Bond earned Honorable Mention All-State honors from the Chicago Tribune. She set the school record with 483 points (19.3 ppg) to lead the UHS Tigers to a 24-5 record. As a junior, she averaged 15.3 points per game and made better than 60 percent of shots. That year the Tigers went 24-4 and advanced to the Illinois State High School Association's (IHSA) Sweet Sixteen in Class AA. While at the state tournament, Bond finished second in the IHSA's 3-point competition.

Urbana School District wishes LaToya Bond all the best in her WNBA career. For more details about the draft pick and LaToya Bond, visit the University of Missouri Athletic Website (stats from University of Missouri website)
